The attorneys and staff here at Sawyer Legal Group wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas! We hope that you are enjoying this holiday season in Denver, Douglas, or Arapahoe County. However, we do know that where there are festivities and parties, there are also sometimes allegations. After a fun night of drinking and partying, it is often surprising when an officer shows up at your house to discuss a situation that was reported. A situation you often have no idea about. If you are contacted by law enforcement or hear rumors about an issue where you are being accused of a sexual offense, contact us immediately.

Commonly Charged Sex Crimes in Adams and Jefferson County

Often the holiday season is full of parties and festivities, which usually includes drinking. Alcohol can lead to regret and people making decisions they wouldn't normally make.  This can sometimes lead to one of the following sex crimes:

  • Sexual Assault –  Having sex with someone who is drunk, even if you are drunk yourself, can end up in criminal charges of Sexual Assault. A lot of times this occurs when one party regrets having sex with the other, so they claim they were too drunk to consent.
  • Unlawful Sexual Contact –  You may be talking or flirting with someone and things may go farther than the other person wants. Grabbing someone's butt or breasts without their explicit permission can sometimes result in criminal charges of Unlawful Sexual Contact.
  • Indecent Exposure –  Exposing yourself, whether purposely or accidentally, can leave you with Indecent Exposure charges. We often see Indecent Exposure charges for masturbating in public as well.
  • Public Indecency  – Having sex with someone or peeing in public are often the reasons we see people have been charged with Public Indecency.

Each of the above offenses can carry serious penalties that will follow you for the rest of your life. If you have been charged, trust the experienced attorneys from our office to help protect you.
